Filling a large volume test setup to 15,000 psi with a screw press alone takes a long time, and a hand pump on its own brings check valve leaks into the measurement. The Additel 946A combines both: a dual-piston system uses the hand pump to fill the workload and the high pressure screw press to raise and lower pressure smoothly.

An isolation valve separates the calibration volume from the hand pump check valve. Because the check valve is a common source of leaks and maintenance, isolating it gives more stable measurements and reduces maintenance on the pump. Three hand-tight quick connectors take the reference gauge and the devices under test without PTFE tape or wrenches, and a 25.6 in3 (420 ml) reservoir supports large volumes.
