The ITECH IT8912E is a high-accuracy DC electronic load built specifically as an LED load simulator, for engineers who develop and qualify LED drivers. Its defining feature is a CR-LED mode implemented in a pure hardware circuit rather than an MCU software loop. By setting the LED driver’s operating voltage, current, and coefficient, the load reproduces the real output behavior of an LED string. Because the control is hardware-based, it removes the voltage and current jitter that general-purpose loads show in CR mode, widens the usable frequency, and makes realistic PWM dimming tests possible.
An adjustable-frequency, adjustable-duty-cycle PWM port (20 Hz to 2 kHz) drives dimming tests, and the IT8912E can also output an external 20 Hz to 2 kHz PWM pulse to coordinate the test. An I-pp/I-max measurement function captures current ripple and the start-up surge current of an LED constant-current source, two failure-relevant parameters that are hard to see on a standard load. Voltage and current measurement runs to 50 kHz, dynamic CC mode reaches 20 kHz, and an automatic test function flags results that fall outside set high and low limits.
The IT8912E provides CR-LED, CC, CV+CC, CR, and CW modes over a 500 V, 15 A, 300 W range, with built-in USB and RS232. It is applied to LED driver power and dimming testing.
