The AEMC MR416 is a Hall effect probe that measures both AC and DC current, with two switchable ranges instead of one. On the 10 mV/A range it resolves small currents up to 40 Aac and 60 Adc, ten times the output of the high range, which is what you want when a reading is too low for a single-range probe to show cleanly. Switch to the 1 mV/A range and it covers up to 400 Aac and 600 Adc. Both ranges feed a DMM or data logger through a 5 ft lead with 4 mm safety banana plugs.
The probe follows DC to 30 kHz (-3 dB, depending on current value), with automatic DC zero on both ranges and internal temperature compensation for stable readings. Power comes from a 9 V battery (about 50 hours typical) or a 5 V micro-USB source, with LEDs for low battery and overload.
The two-range design suits AC and DC current work that spans low and mid levels: control circuits, drives, DC power and battery systems, and bench testing. The MR416 replaces the discontinued Model MR411.
