Features

  • Two-range Hall effect probe measuring both AC and DC current
  • Low range: up to 40 Aac, 60 Adc at 10 mV/A (higher resolution on small currents)
  • High range: up to 400 Aac, 600 Adc at 1 mV/A
  • Bandwidth DC to 30 kHz (-3 dB, depending on current value); phase shift 2.2 degrees or less at 40 A
  • Automatic DC zero on both ranges; internal temperature compensation
  • Load impedance above 1 megohm and 100 pF or less; output to DMMs and data loggers
  • Power: 9 V alkaline battery (about 50 hours typical) or 5 V micro-USB Type B; low battery and overload LEDs
  • Double-insulated 5 ft (1.5 m) lead with two 4 mm safety banana plugs; 600 V CAT III

Applications

  • AC and DC current measurement spanning low and mid levels with one probe
  • Control circuits and low-current branches where the 10 mV/A range improves resolution
  • Variable speed drives, DC power, and battery systems
  • Bench and field measurement with DMMs and data loggers up to 600 V CAT III

Technical Specifications

  • Replaces: Model MR411 (Cat. #1200.68)

The AEMC MR416 is a Hall effect probe that measures both AC and DC current, with two switchable ranges instead of one. On the 10 mV/A range it resolves small currents up to 40 Aac and 60 Adc, ten times the output of the high range, which is what you want when a reading is too low for a single-range probe to show cleanly. Switch to the 1 mV/A range and it covers up to 400 Aac and 600 Adc. Both ranges feed a DMM or data logger through a 5 ft lead with 4 mm safety banana plugs.

The probe follows DC to 30 kHz (-3 dB, depending on current value), with automatic DC zero on both ranges and internal temperature compensation for stable readings. Power comes from a 9 V battery (about 50 hours typical) or a 5 V micro-USB source, with LEDs for low battery and overload.

The two-range design suits AC and DC current work that spans low and mid levels: control circuits, drives, DC power and battery systems, and bench testing. The MR416 replaces the discontinued Model MR411.
