The AEMC MN05 is a small AC current probe that turns a high-impedance voltmeter or data recorder into a clamp-on AC ammeter for low-level currents. Clamp it around a single conductor and it outputs a voltage proportional to the AC current: 1 mV/mA on the 10 A range and 1 mV/A on the 100 A range. Because the output is a voltage, the MN05 connects to any voltmeter, multimeter, or recorder with an input impedance above 1 megohm. To meet its rated accuracy, pair it with a voltmeter accurate to 0.75 percent or better.
Two ranges matter here. The 10 A range reads from 5 mA, which is what makes the MN05 useful for low-level and leakage-type AC current measurement where a standard clamp meter lacks resolution. The 100 A range covers general secondary and industrial circuits. The clothes-pin jaw fits conductors up to 0.39 in (10 mm), so it reaches into breaker and control panels.
The MN05 measures AC current only and does not measure DC. It replaces the discontinued Model MN103, so existing procedures carry over.
