Some instruments have to stay free of oil, and a hydraulic calibration pump that runs on oil is the wrong tool for them. The Additel 946AW is the water version of the Additel 946A: the same dual-piston system and isolation valve, with deionized water as the media, up to 15,000 psi (1,000 bar).

The hand pump fills the workload, and the high pressure screw press raises and lowers pressure smoothly at each point. The isolation valve separates the calibration volume from the hand pump check valve, a common source of leaks and maintenance. Three hand-tight quick connectors take the reference gauge and the devices under test without PTFE tape or wrenches. Additel notes that pump stability is best with oil, so where oil is acceptable, the Additel 946A is the better fit.
